This year’s emerging artist scholarships were awarded to 2 Dubuque artists: Edward Obermueller and Barb Zehentner McKinlay. These individuals and over 60 other artists will display their work in Washington Park at the DubuqueFest fine arts fair on May 18-19, 2013. The Heavenly States, an indie-rock quartet based out of Austin, Texas, will make their return appearance at this year’s DubuqueFest Fine Arts Festival, sharing their original music in a free performance under the stars on the Town Clock stage on Saturday, May 18 at 9 p.m. Songwriter and guitar player Ted Nesseth spoke to DubuqueFest about the show.

The new Nash Gallery location, 371 Bluff Street (above Monk’s Kaffee Pub) will host an emerging artist showcase exhibit April 19-May 19, 2013. Opening reception is Friday, April 19, 7-9 pm. Gallery hours on Saturdays & Sundays, 12-4 pm. Extended gallery hours will begin on May 1.
This multi-genre exhibit features the work of nine emerging artists from the art departments of Clarke University and Loras College. Featured artists include Sara Steuer, Kalli Olberding, Randi Westervelt, Samantha Sewell and Mark Fuentebella from Loras College and Emily Cram, Traci Bauer, Gwen Gross, Kayla Carlson, Molly Haut, and Anai Williams from Clarke University. The artists’ work include explorations in photography, installation, collage, mixed media/conceptual, painting, illustration, drawing, ceramics, and sculpture.
